Course Information
CPP30619 Description
This is a qualification for investigators, responsible for factual investigation and inquiry work or covert surveillance operations. Investigators operate under limited supervision and use discretion and judgement to search for information about a person’s character, actions or work and gather evidence that may be used in court.
Occupational titles may include:
- inquiry agent
- private investigator.
This qualification provides occupational specialisations in factual investigation and surveillance, and a pathway to further learning and work in investigations management.

Study mode
This course is comprised of 16 units of competency which are delivered using a combination of:
- Contact days
- Online Knowledge Questions
- Project based Assessment Tasks
Attendance requirements include 10-days of in-class training, followed by progress sessions that will be scheduled as required.
Participants are required to complete the online Knowledge Assessments prior to commencement of in-class training.
Participants are given up to 24 months to complete this qualification.
Course requirements
- A Unique Student Identifier [USI] www.usi.gov.au
- Completion of the pre-enrolment mandatory LLN assessment.
- Strong digital communication skills [access to a computer or device for online learning].
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Physical capability to participate in practical exercises and realistic scenarios.
