An information packed program using realistic injuries to prepare the participant with the confidence for a real first aid emergency.
This Unit of Competence introduces participants to the skills and background knowledge to recognise and respond to life threatening emergencies using basic life support techniques until a more qualified first aider or medically trained person is available. This course conforms to the recommendations of the Australian Resuscitation Council, including the knowledge and skills to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Designed for
Anyone who is:
- required to achieve a basic level of first aid training for the workplace
- would like to learn basic emergency first aid information without the need to complete a more intensive learning program
Participants must be 14 years or older. Participants under 14 years must provide written permission to attend the course from their parent or guardian.
Delivery
The HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support course is a one (1) day program delivered over approx. 8 hours. It includes pre-course readings and in-class assessment activities.

Nationally Accredited Certification on Completion
On successful completion of this highly practical course, the participant will receive a statement of attainment for HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support. As per the recommendations of the Code of Practice for First Aid in the Workplace, first aid qualifications should be renewed every three (3) years, and all people trained in CPR should refresh their CPR skills at least annually (every 12 months) in accordance with recommendations of the Australian Resuscitation Council Guideline 10.1.
Assessment
Tactical offers a 'hands on approach' with progressive assessment throughout the course, including multiple choice questionnaires, demonstration of CPR using manikins and realistic scenarios.
Please be aware that due to Nationally Registered Training assessment requirements, participants must be capable of performing CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor. Contact us if you need to discuss any individual needs.

HLTAID011 Provide first aid– previously known as Senior First Aid and Apply First Aid – this course incorporates the skills of both HLTAID009 & HLTAID010. HLTAID011 provides competencies required to recognise and respond to common life-threatening injuries or illnesses, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. Meets Work Health and Safety requirements for most workplaces.
