Workplace First Aid
Also known as ‘Senior First Aid', the HLTAID011 Provide first aid course is the minimum requirement by Workplace Health & Safety legislation for the workplace first aider. The aim of this course is to develop the skills and knowledge required to develop competence and confidence in providing an emergency first aid response. This includes calling for help, the ability to respond to first aid situations, casualty assessment, decision-making, and basic life support functions including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation until the arrival of medical or other assistance.
This program incorporates the content of units HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support. (Valid Australia wide)
Designed for anyone who:
- Provides first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings
- needs senior first aid
- would like to have the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty
Participants must be 14 years or older. Participants under 14 years must provide written permission to attend the course from their parent or guardian.
Delivery
The HLTAID011 Provide first aid course requires participants to attend a 1 day Practical Skill Workshop plus 4-6 hours of pre-course self-study.

Nationally Accredited Certification on Completion
On successful completion of this highly practical course, the participant will receive a statement of attainment for HLTAID011 Provide first aid. As per the recommendations of the Code of Practice for First Aid in the Workplace, first aid qualifications should be renewed every three (3) years, and all people trained in CPR should refresh their CPR skills at least annually (every 12 months) in accordance with recommendations of the Australian Resuscitation Council Guideline 10.1.
Assessment
Tactical offers a 'hands on approach' with progressive assessment throughout the course, including multiple choice questionnaires, demonstration of CPR using manikins and realistic scenarios.
Please be aware that due to Nationally Registered Training assessment requirements, participants must be capable of performing CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor. Contact us if you need to discuss any individual needs.

HLTAID013 Provide first aid in remote or isolated site– provides the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response and emergency life support to a casualty in a remote and/or isolated situation. This program applies to workers who may be required to prepare for and provide a first aid response in locations beyond the reach of timely medical assistance
HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid– provides the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders. This program applies to workers who may be required to provide, coordinate and manage a first aid response across a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings.
HLTAID0015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy– provides the skills and knowledge required to use specialised resuscitation equipment including AED, bag-valve-mask, oropharyngeal airway adjunct, an oxygen resuscitation system with oxygen cylinder and a selection of selection of oxygen equipment.
